It is our great honour to welcome you to the 2018 workshop on Physics, Inference and Learning (PIL2018), hosted by the Institue of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). This meeting is going to bring together over 50 scientists from around the world in the field of physics, applied mathematics and computer science, to mix people in different fileds but closely to stimulate discussions. The whole project spans 6 days, from Oct. 28 to Nov 3. The schedule in the first three days will be composed of several tutorials on inference, learning and tensor networks, mainly for students of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In the following three days there will be a workshop containing invited and contributed talks.

The topics include:

Statistical physics, mean-field approaches and message passing algorithms.

Statistical inference, rigorous analysis and approximation methods

Tensor networks for machine learning, tensor decompositions

Deep neural networks and its relations with physics
